Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide safe, compassionate, evidence-based nursing care to Med/Surg patients
• Perform thorough assessments and create individualized care plans
• Administer medications and treatments accurately and document thoroughly
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to coordinate patient care
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments, and discharge plans
• Monitor patient progress, escalate concerns, and act decisively in urgent situations
• Contribute to a positive unit culture by mentoring colleagues and sharing best practices

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina or valid compact license
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• Advanced certifications such as ACLS or specialty certs are a plus
• Current clinical experience in medical-surgical nursing preferred (1-2+ years ideal)
• Comfort with IV therapy, medication administration, and electronic medical records
• Strong communication, clinical judgment, and teamwork skills

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) — BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Patient assessment and clinical decision-making
• Medication administration and IV therapy
• Familiarity with EMR systems (experience with Epic or similar is helpful)
• Infection control and patient safety best practices
• Prioritization, time management, and effective handoff communication
• Compassionate patient and family education
