Roles & Responsibilities
- Deliver compassionate, evidence-based occupational therapy interventions under the supervision of an OT
- Collaborate with patients, families, and the interdisciplinary team to set and achieve meaningful functional goals
- Implement therapeutic activities and adaptive techniques to improve independence in daily living
- Document patient progress clearly and timely in the medical record
- Educate patients and caregivers on home programs, adaptive equipment, and safety strategies
- Maintain professional standards, compliance with facility policies, and patient confidentiality
Qualifications
- Current Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) credential required
- Active Massachusetts licensure or eligibility to obtain MA COTA license
- CPR/BLS certification required or must obtain upon hire
- Background check and health screening clearance as required by facility
- Preferred: 1+ year of experience in outpatient, skilled nursing, or rehabilitation settings
Education
- Associate degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong hands-on therapeutic skills and ability to adapt activities for different abilities
- Good clinical judgment and ability to follow care plans and direction from supervising OT
- Excellent communication and patient education skills
- Familiarity with documentation best practices and basic electronic medical record use
- Comfortable working with adult and geriatric populations in a clinic or community setting
