Roles & Responsibilities
- Deliver hands-on therapeutic care under the direction of an occupational therapist to help patients regain independence
- Implement individualized treatment plans and document patient progress clearly and promptly
- Assist patients with adaptive equipment, daily living activities, and therapeutic exercises
- Collaborate with therapists, nursing staff, and families to create meaningful, person-centered care
- Monitor patient safety, provide education to patients and caregivers, and adjust interventions as needed
- Maintain treatment areas and equipment, ensuring cleanliness and readiness for patient care
Qualifications
- Current Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) credential
- Active Massachusetts licensure or eligibility to obtain state licensure
- Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification required
- Previous experience in inpatient, outpatient, or skilled nursing settings preferred but new grads considered
- Strong communication skills and a passion for patient-centered care
Education
- Associate degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant or related field
Knowledge & Skills
- Familiarity with therapeutic exercises, ADL training, and adaptive equipment
- Solid documentation skills and charting in clinical records
- Ability to follow treatment plans and provide consistent, compassionate patient care
- Good clinical judgment, patient handling, and safety awareness
- Team collaboration and clear communication with interdisciplinary staff
