Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver hands-on therapeutic care under the direction of an occupational therapist to help patients regain independence
• Implement individualized treatment plans and document patient progress clearly and promptly
• Assist patients with adaptive equipment, daily living activities, and therapeutic exercises
• Collaborate with therapists, nursing staff, and families to create meaningful, person-centered care
• Monitor patient safety, provide education to patients and caregivers, and adjust interventions as needed
• Maintain treatment areas and equipment, ensuring cleanliness and readiness for patient care

Qualifications

• Current Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) credential
• Active Massachusetts licensure or eligibility to obtain state licensure
• Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification required
• Previous experience in inpatient, outpatient, or skilled nursing settings preferred but new grads considered
• Strong communication skills and a passion for patient-centered care

Education

• Associate degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant or related field

Knowledge & Skills

• Familiarity with therapeutic exercises, ADL training, and adaptive equipment
• Solid documentation skills and charting in clinical records
• Ability to follow treatment plans and provide consistent, compassionate patient care
• Good clinical judgment, patient handling, and safety awareness
• Team collaboration and clear communication with interdisciplinary staff
