Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, hands-on patient care in a busy Emergency Department
- Assist nurses and providers with assessments and urgent interventions
- Monitor patients, report changes promptly, and document care accurately
- Support safe patient transfers, admissions and discharges with attention to detail
- Maintain a calm, professional presence during critical cardiac and trauma situations
- Collaborate with the care team to prioritize patient safety and comfort
- Adhere to infection control, safety policies, and department protocols
Qualifications
- Current, unencumbered Oregon CNA certification (required)
- Healthcare provider level BLS certification (required upon hire)
- Comfort working with patients across the acuity spectrum, from non-critical to emergent
- Strong communication skills and ability to work in a fast-paced team environment
- Previous ED or acute care experience preferred but enthusiastic new ED CNAs are welcome
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Current Oregon CNA certification required
Knowledge & Skills
- Fundamentals of patient care, vital signs, and basic clinical procedures
- Understanding of emergency medical conditions and triage basics
- Familiarity with critical cardiac care and trauma support workflows
- Ability to follow protocols under pressure and prioritize patient needs
- Teamwork, clear communication, and attention to accurate documentation
