Roles & Responsibilities
- Maintain the surgical center interior and equipment to a high standard of cleanliness
- Mop floors, wash walls, and clean counters, carts, furniture, and select equipment
- Follow housekeeping schedules and daily instructions to ensure a sterile environment
- Collect trash and soiled linens and transport them to the designated disposal area
- Adhere to gowning procedures and basic operating room grooming rules to maintain sterility
- Monitor inventory and coordinate supply orders with the Materials Manager
- Clean and empty the kitchen refrigerator weekly
- Perform carpet cleaning, floor stripping, and waxing after receiving training
- Pitch in with related duties as assigned to support a safe, efficient surgical center
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- General experience cleaning public buildings or similar environments
- Comfortable following detailed procedures and working under supervision
- Ability to work well with others and communicate clearly
- Willingness to learn gowning, sterile techniques, and specialized cleaning tasks
- Ability to perform routine physical tasks such as mopping, lifting trash bags, and moving supplies
Education
- High school graduate or equivalent
Knowledge & Skills
- Understanding the difference between sterile, clean, contaminated, and normal use areas
- Ability to prepare and use cleaning solutions safely and effectively
- Familiarity with basic inventory monitoring and supply ordering
- Knowledge of proper gowning procedures and traffic patterns in operating rooms
- Basic floor care and carpet cleaning techniques (training provided for specialized tasks)
- Attention to detail, reliability, and a focus on patient and staff safety
