Roles & Responsibilities
- Lead assigned laboratory sections by overseeing specimen processing, test performance and timely reporting of results
- Ensure laboratory operations comply with regulatory requirements, facility policies and quality standards
- Perform and verify high-complexity clinical testing across chemistry, hematology, coagulation, urinalysis, microbiology, blood bank and clinical microscopy
- Train, mentor and initially perform bench technologist duties before assuming lead responsibilities
- Coordinate shift coverage and work collaboratively on rotational schedules including weekends and holidays
- Troubleshoot instrumentation and testing issues and escalate when necessary to maintain patient care continuity
- Document procedures, maintain quality control records and support accreditation and inspection readiness
- Communicate clearly with clinical teams to support accurate, timely patient results and diagnostic decision-making
Qualifications
- Minimum three years experience as a generalist performing high-complexity clinical testing across multiple specialties
- Current, unexpired Medical Laboratory Scientist/Technologist/Specialist certification from a nationally recognized agency
- Bachelor's degree in laboratory, biological, chemical or physical science, healthcare or healthcare management related field
- Demonstrated leadership or supervisory experience in a clinical laboratory setting
- Strong understanding of regulatory compliance and quality assurance practices
- Ability to work rotational shifts including days, evenings, nights, weekends and holidays
Education
- Bachelor's degree in laboratory, biological, chemical or physical science, Healthcare or Healthcare Management related field
Knowledge & Skills
- Hands-on expertise in specimen processing, test performance and result validation
- Experience with chemistry, hematology, coagulation, urinalysis, microbiology, blood bank and clinical microscopy
- Familiarity with laboratory information systems and documentation best practices
- Strong problem-solving skills for instrumentation and testing workflow issues
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills in a multidisciplinary clinical environment
