Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide expert critical care nursing for adult ICU patients with a 1:1 or 1:2 ratio
- Continuously monitor ECG rhythms, ventilators, hemodynamics and respond to acute changes
- Administer and titrate vasoactive medications and manage advanced support such as CRRT and ECMO with the team
- Interpret and manage dysrhythmias and support emergency interventions including pacemakers, IABP and VADs
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including respiratory therapy, pharmacy, PT and rapid response to optimize patient outcomes
- Document accurately and timely in Epic to keep the care team in sync
- Float to other units or facilities as needed while maintaining high standards of patient care
Qualifications
- Active RN license in the state of practice; pending license considered
- Minimum 1-2 years of recent ICU/critical care experience (2 years preferred)
- Current ACLS and BLS certifications required
- CCRN and NIHSS are strong pluses and preferred
- Demonstrated experience with ventilator management and care of ventilated patients
- Comfort with advanced monitoring: Swan-Ganz/Pulmonary Artery lines, cardiac monitoring, CRRT, ECMO is a plus
- Reliable transportation required for this assignment
Education
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN); BSN preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Proficient in Epic charting and documentation
- Strong cardiac monitoring skills and dysrhythmia interpretation
- Ventilator management, respiratory and thoracic critical care knowledge
- Experience with vasoactive drips, titration and hemodynamic monitoring
- Familiarity with advanced life support equipment and emergency response protocols
- Ability to float between units and adapt quickly to new teams and workflows
