Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality peri-procedural nursing care in the cardiac cath lab and interventional radiology settings
- Circulate and assist during diagnostic and interventional procedures such as PCI, stent placement, angiography, and ASD closures
- Monitor and manage pts on advanced devices and supports including Impella and IABP
- Assess and manage dysrhythmias, administer emergency medications and IV vasopressors when needed
- Maintain procedural sedation monitoring, airway and ventilator management as appropriate
- Perform sheath removal, topical hemostasis and post-procedure monitoring for vascular access sites
- Document thoroughly and accurately in Epic to ensure continuity of care
- Float within scope to EP or IR to meet patient and facility needs and support the unit schedule
Qualifications
- Active Alaska RN license required for Auto Offer (pending license accepted but Auto Offer requires license in hand)
- Minimum 2 years RN experience (Cath Lab or critical care experience strongly preferred)
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Comfortable with on-call weekend coverage and 4x10 day schedule
- Able to float to Electrophysiology (EP) or Interventional Radiology (IR) as needed
- Must be able to pass facility screening; first-time travelers accepted
Education
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
- Active RN license (Alaska) required for Auto Offer
Knowledge & Skills
- Cardiac Cath Lab and Interventional Radiology procedures and workflows
- Epic electronic charting and documentation
- Activated Clotting Time (ACT) and topical hemostasis techniques
- End-tidal CO2 monitoring and procedural sedation monitoring
- Ventilator management and experience with critical care equipment
- Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, emergency meds, and IV vasopressors
- Familiarity with Impella, IABP, rotablator, shockwave and other cath lab devices
- Infection prevention and isolation precautions
