Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide expert, compassionate peri-procedural care in the cardiac cath lab, ensuring patient safety during complex interventional procedures
- Perform thorough patient assessments and continuous monitoring before, during, and after procedures
- Operate and monitor specialized equipment such as Impella, IABP, rotablator, and hemodynamic monitoring devices
- Administer and titrate emergency medications, IV vasopressors, and procedural sedation while closely monitoring patient response
- Collaborate with cardiologists, EP, IR, and interdisciplinary teams to coordinate care and optimize outcomes
- Manage sheath removal, hemostasis techniques, and post-procedure care with attention to infection prevention and vascular integrity
- Document care accurately and efficiently in Epic to support continuity and quality reporting
Qualifications
- Active RN license — Alaska RN license required in hand for auto-offer (pending license accepted for initial consideration)
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Minimum: 2 years of relevant cardiac cath lab or critical care experience (first-time travel clinicians may be considered)
- Comfort floating to EP or IR within your scope of practice
- Ability to work on-call weekends as described and attend a 40-hour orientation
- Demonstrated competency with invasive monitoring and interventional cardiac procedures
Education
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
- Active RN license appropriate to practice (AK RN license required for auto-offer)
Knowledge & Skills
- Cardiac catheterization procedures, PCI, left and right heart caths
- Sheath removal and topical hemostasis (D-Stat, Chito-Seal, Syvek Patch)
- Activated Clotting Time (ACT) monitoring and management
- Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias and emergency meds
- Ventilator management and post-procedure critical care skills
- Monitoring procedural sedation and reversal agent knowledge
- Experience with Epic charting and accurate documentation
- Familiarity with specialized devices: Impella, IABP, rotablator, laser, shockwave
