Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality, patient-centered nursing care in the cardiac catheterization lab
- Assess and monitor patients before, during, and after invasive cardiac procedures
- Collaborate with cardiologists, techs, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure safe, efficient procedures
- Administer and monitor procedural sedation, vasoactive medications, and emergency meds as needed
- Operate and monitor specialized equipment (Impella, IABP, rotablator, balloon pump, laser)
- Perform sheath removal, hemostasis techniques, and post-procedural monitoring with attention to complications
- Document care accurately in Epic and communicate critical information during handoffs
- Float within scope to EP or IR as needed to meet facility patient-care demands
Qualifications
- Current Alaska RN license in hand required for auto-offer
- Minimum 2 years of clinical nursing experience (Cath Lab, ICU, ED, or similar preferred)
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Comfortable with on-call responsibilities including 4th/5th weekend coverage
- Ability to safely float to EP or Interventional Radiology when needed
- Strong clinical assessment, dysrhythmia recognition, and hemodynamic monitoring skills
Education
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; BSN preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Cardiac catheterization procedures and percutaneous coronary interventions (PCI)
- Swan-Ganz/pulmonary artery line monitoring and hemodynamic assessment
- Activated Clotting Time (ACT) management and topical hemostasis techniques
- Monitoring procedural sedation and end-tidal CO2
- Ventilator management and post-procedure critical care skills
- Interpretation/management of dysrhythmias and emergency medication administration
- Familiarity with Epic electronic charting system
- Experience with vascular access, sheath management, and advanced cath lab equipment (Impella, rotablator, balloon pump)
