Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide expert patient assessment and deliver safe, high-quality nursing care in the cardiac cath lab
- Administer medications, monitor cardiac rhythms, and manage hemodynamics during interventional procedures
- Support and monitor patients during procedural sedation and post-procedure recovery
- Operate and monitor specialized equipment such as Impella, IABP, rotablator, shockwave devices and hemodynamic monitoring systems
- Collaborate with physicians, techs, and interdisciplinary teams to coordinate care and optimize patient outcomes
- Document thoroughly and accurately in Epic to maintain continuity of care and compliance
- Respond to on-call events and provide reliable weekend on-call coverage as scheduled
Qualifications
- Current, active AK Registered Nurse license required for auto-offer; pending licenses accepted but must be in hand for auto-offer
- Minimum 2 years clinical nursing experience, preferably in cardiac cath lab or interventional settings
- Active BLS and ACLS required
- Comfortable charting in Epic
- Ability to float within scope to EP or Interventional Radiology as needed
- On-call availability per schedule and ability to work 4x10 day shifts
- First-time travel clinicians welcome
Education
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN, ASN or BSN)
- Active RN licensure (AK) required
Knowledge & Skills
- Patient assessment and cardiac monitoring
- Medication administration and IV therapy, including vasopressors
- Blood product administration and management of infusion pumps
- Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
- Procedural sedation monitoring and emergency medication administration
- Experience with angioplasty, PCI, left/right heart catheterizations, stent placement and percutaneous interventions
- Sheath removal, topical hemostasis, and post-procedure monitoring
- Familiarity with specialized cath lab equipment such as Impella, balloon pump, rotablator and laser
