Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate daily care to residents, assisting with activities of daily living with dignity and respect
- Monitor and report changes in residents’ condition to nursing staff promptly and accurately
- Support mobility needs including safe transfers and encouragement of independence
- Maintain accurate documentation of care and timely communication with the care team
- Help create a warm, safe environment by following infection control and safety protocols
- Build trusting relationships with residents and families to enhance resident well-being
Qualifications
- Active GNA certification (Maryland) or state-authorized equivalent required
- Current BLS/CPR certification or willingness to obtain upon hire
- Previous experience in long-term care or nursing assistant role preferred (1+ year helpful)
- Ability to pass background checks and meet facility onboarding requirements
- Strong communication skills and a patient-centered attitude
- Reliable, punctual, and ready to be part of a collaborative care team
Education
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- GNA certification (Maryland) or equivalent required
Knowledge & Skills
- Understanding of activities of daily living (ADLs) and resident-centered care
- Basic vital signs monitoring and charting
- Safe body mechanics and transfer techniques
- Familiarity with infection control practices and PPE use
- Teamwork and effective communication with nursing staff and families
- Compassion, patience, and the ability to handle stressful situations calmly
