Roles & Responsibilities

• Triage and assess emergency patients quickly and accurately, initiating appropriate interventions
• Lead and participate in STEMI and stroke protocols to ensure timely, life-saving care
• Manage critical events including codes, intubations, chest tube care and conscious sedation
• Administer medications and infusions safely, including antivenom when required
• Document patient care effectively in Meditech Expanse, maintaining accurate charts
• Collaborate with physicians, techs and support staff to coordinate patient flow and disposition
• Use advanced monitoring and equipment (Lifepak, Phillips monitors, Lucas device) with confidence
• Mentor colleagues, help maintain unit standards, and step into charge duties when needed

Qualifications

• Active RN license in Texas (compact license accepted if applicable)
• Minimum 3+ years recent Emergency Department (ED) nursing experience
• Current BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS and TNCC certifications (required)
• Comfortable with high-acuity patients and rapid decision-making
• Previous charge or leadership experience preferred but not required
• Strong communication, critical thinking and multi-tasking abilities
• Current immunizations and ability to pass background/drug screening per hospital policy

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) — BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficient with Meditech Expanse or similar EMR systems
• Familiarity with Phillips monitors, HillRom beds, Omnicell, GE EKG machines, Lifepak 20e and Lucas device
• Experience with STEMI and stroke protocols, conscious sedation, intubation and trauma care
• Excellent assessment, prioritization and time-management skills
• Team-oriented mindset with the ability to work independently when needed
