Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, person-centered care to residents in a long-term care setting
- Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting
- Perform safe transfers and mobility assistance, using proper body mechanics and equipment
- Take and record vital signs, monitor resident status, and promptly report changes to nursing staff
- Document care accurately and timely in resident charts and electronic records
- Support a clean, safe, and respectful environment that promotes resident dignity
- Collaborate with nurses and interdisciplinary team members to deliver consistent, high-quality care
Qualifications
- Current GNA certification (or CNA equivalent) required; Maryland state certification or eligibility preferred
- Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) current or ability to obtain prior to start
- Preferred: prior experience in long-term care or skilled nursing (new grads welcome to apply)
- Ability to pass background check, drug screen, TB test, and required immunizations
- Dependable, compassionate, and able to communicate effectively with residents and team members
Education
- High School Diploma or GED required; GNA/CNA certification required
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of activities of daily living (ADLs) and resident mobility support
- Basic clinical skills: taking vitals, observing resident condition, documenting care
- Familiarity with infection control and safe patient handling practices
- Strong interpersonal skills, patience, and a team-oriented mindset
- Comfortable working with electronic or paper charting systems
