Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate direct care to residents, helping with activities of daily living
- Assist with safe transfers, positioning, and mobility support to keep residents comfortable
- Monitor and report changes in condition—your observations help shape care plans
- Take and document vital signs and other routine clinical measures accurately
- Support meal service and ensure residents receive timely nutrition and hydration
- Maintain a clean, safe environment by following infection control and safety protocols
- Collaborate with nurses and interdisciplinary team members to deliver coordinated care
- Document care in a timely and professional manner to maintain excellent resident records
Qualifications
- Current GNA certification (or equivalent) valid in Maryland
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Current CPR/BLS certification (or willing to obtain upon hire)
- Minimum 6 months to 1 year of direct care experience preferred (new grads welcome!)
- Up-to-date TB test and immunizations per facility policy
- Ability to pass background check and drug screening
- Reliable transportation and punctuality for scheduled shifts
- Strong communication skills and a team-first attitude
Education
- High School Diploma or GED required
- GNA certification required
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled in basic resident care: ADLs, bathing, grooming, feeding assistance
- Comfortable taking and recording vital signs accurately
- Knowledge of infection control practices and patient safety
- Ability to follow care plans and report observations clearly
- Basic charting and documentation skills (paper or electronic)
- Compassionate bedside manner and strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a nursing team
