Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, hands-on care to residents in a long-term care setting
- Assist with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, and mobility
- Observe and report changes in resident condition to the nursing team promptly
- Support mealtime and feeding assistance when needed, respecting dietary plans
- Maintain clean, safe environments and follow infection prevention protocols
- Document care accurately and communicate clearly with colleagues and families
- Build positive relationships with residents to promote dignity and quality of life
Qualifications
- GNA certification required (or equivalent state nursing assistant certification)
- Current CPR certification preferred or willingness to obtain
- Ability to pass background and health screenings, including TB and immunizations
- Previous experience in long-term care or skilled nursing preferred (1+ year helpful)
- Reliable transportation and punctuality for scheduled shifts
- Friendly, patient-focused attitude with strong communication skills
Education
- High school diploma or GED required
- GNA certification or state-approved nursing assistant credential required
Knowledge & Skills
- Basic nursing assistant skills: ADLs, vital signs, safe resident transfers
- Knowledge of infection control and proper PPE use
- Familiarity with documentation and charting best practices
- Ability to work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary care team
- Competence in resident safety, fall prevention, and skin integrity monitoring
