Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, hands-on care to residents, assisting with activities of daily living like bathing, dressing, and mobility
- Take and record vital signs accurately and report any changes in condition
- Support safe transfers and ambulation while using proper body mechanics
- Maintain clear, timely documentation of care and any resident observations
- Communicate effectively with nurses, interdisciplinary team members, and families to ensure coordinated care
- Follow infection control policies and promote a clean, safe environment
- Demonstrate respect and preserve dignity for each resident, encouraging independence whenever possible
Qualifications
- Current GNA certification or state equivalent required
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Current CPR/BLS certification or willingness to obtain
- Negative TB test and up-to-date immunizations per facility policy
- Background check and drug screen clearance required
- Prior experience in long-term care or assisted living preferred but new graduates welcome
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent; GNA certification required
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong patient care skills with focus on dignity and respect
- Basic clinical skills: vital signs, ADL assistance, safe transfers
- Good communication and teamwork with clinical staff and families
- Ability to follow care plans and facility policies accurately
- Comfortable with documentation and charting processes
- Reliable, punctual, and able to handle a fast-paced care environment
