Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, hands-on care to residents including bathing, dressing, grooming and toileting
- Assist with safe transfers and mobility, promoting independence whenever possible
- Take and record vital signs accurately and report changes to the nursing team
- Support mealtime assistance and ensure dietary needs are met
- Maintain clear, timely documentation in resident charts and communicate with interdisciplinary team members
- Follow infection control, safety protocols and facility policies to keep residents safe
- Build trusting relationships with residents and their families through respectful communication
Qualifications
- GNA/CNA certification or state-recognized nursing assistant credential
- Current CPR/BLS certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Ability to pass background checks and required health screenings
- Comfortable with physical components of the role, including lifting and assisting with mobility
- Previous long-term care or skilled nursing experience preferred but new grads welcome
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent; GNA/CNA certification required
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong interpersonal skills and a caring bedside manner
- Basic clinical skills: vital signs, ADL support, safe transfer techniques
- Familiarity with infection control and safety standards
- Reliable documentation and communication with nursing staff
- Ability to follow care plans and work well in a team environment
