Roles & Responsibilities
- Assist residents with activities of daily living with dignity and compassion
- Provide safe, attentive bedside care and observe changes in condition
- Measure and record vital signs and report concerns to the nursing team
- Support mobility and fall-prevention efforts during transfers and ambulation
- Document care accurately and promptly in resident charts
- Collaborate with nurses and interdisciplinary staff to deliver person-centered care
- Maintain a clean, safe environment and follow infection-control practices
Qualifications
- GNA certification required (Maryland GNA/CNA preferred)
- Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain
- Comfortable providing hands-on care and working directly with residents
- Pass a background check and meet facility health requirements (TB, immunizations)
- Positive attitude, strong communication skills, and a team-player mindset
- Previous long-term care or assisted living experience is a plus
Education
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- GNA/CNA certification required
Knowledge & Skills
- Basic clinical skills: vital signs, ADL assistance, safe transfers
- Infection prevention and hygiene best practices
- Clear, respectful communication with residents and teammates
- Time management and the ability to prioritize resident needs
- Observation skills to notice changes and escalate appropriately
- Compassionate, patient-centered approach to care
