Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate direct care to residents, supporting daily living activities with dignity and respect
• Assist with personal hygiene, mobility, feeding, and toileting while encouraging independence
• Monitor and report changes in resident condition to nursing staff promptly and accurately
• Maintain clear, timely documentation of care and resident observations
• Collaborate with the care team to implement individualized care plans
• Follow infection control, safety, and facility policies to keep residents and colleagues safe
• Support a positive, resident-centered environment by engaging residents in conversation and activities

Qualifications

• Current GNA certification (or equivalent) recognized by the State of Maryland required
• High School Diploma or GED preferred
• Current CPR/BLS certification required or obtain upon hire if facility requires
• Prior experience in long-term care, assisted living, or similar setting preferred (6+ months helpful)
• Ability to pass background checks and any facility-required screenings
• Strong communication skills and a compassionate, patient-centered approach

Education

• High School Diploma or GED preferred; GNA certification required

Knowledge & Skills

• Basic nursing assistant skills: bathing, dressing, feeding, toileting, ambulation assistance
• Resident observation and reporting — knowing what to watch for and when to escalate
• Familiarity with documentation practices and electronic charting basics
• Safe transfer and lifting techniques to protect residents and yourself
• Teamwork and collaboration with nurses, therapists, and other care staff
• Respectful communication with residents, families, and colleagues
