Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, resident-centered personal care with dignity and respect
- Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, grooming, dressing, and toileting
- Monitor and record vital signs and report any changes to nursing staff promptly
- Support residents with mobility and transfers using safe body mechanics
- Maintain a clean, safe environment and follow infection control procedures
- Accurately document care provided and communicate observations during handoffs
- Build trusting relationships with residents and families to support quality of life
Qualifications
- Current GNA or CNA certification, or completion of a recognized GNA/CNA program
- Active Maryland certification or ability to obtain state certification
- BLS/CPR certification preferred or willingness to obtain upon hire
- Able to pass background check and drug screening
- Compassionate, patient-focused attitude with strong communication skills
- Previous experience in long term care or nursing home setting is a plus, new grads welcome
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent; completion of GNA or CNA training program
Knowledge & Skills
- Basic patient care and assistance with ADLs
- Measuring and recording vital signs accurately
- Fundamentals of infection control and hand hygiene
- Basic charting and documentation skills
- Effective, compassionate communication with residents and team members
- Time management and the ability to prioritize resident needs
- Understanding of resident rights and HIPAA privacy principles
