Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, resident-centered personal care and assistance with activities of daily living
- Assist with bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, and mobility safely and respectfully
- Monitor residents for changes in condition and promptly report concerns to nursing staff
- Document care accurately and clearly according to facility policy
- Support mealtime assistance and ensure residents receive meal accommodations
- Work collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team to promote resident comfort and quality of life
- Maintain a safe, clean environment and follow infection control and safety procedures
Qualifications
- GNA certification required (or equivalent state-approved nurse aide certification)
- Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or required as facility policy dictates
- Must meet Maryland state requirements for nurse aides (licensure/registration as applicable)
- Background check and up-to-date immunizations/TB screening required
- Previous long-term care or skilled nursing experience preferred, new grads welcome
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent
- GNA certification / state-approved nurse aide certification
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with residents and team members
- Knowledge of ADLs, basic resident care techniques, and infection control
- Ability to safely assist with transfers, lifts, and mobility support
- Accurate documentation and basic charting skills
- Ability to follow care plans and direction from licensed nursing staff
- Calm, patient demeanor and a passion for working with older adults
