Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate direct patient care and assistance with activities of daily living
- Support safe mobility and transfers, using proper body mechanics and assistive devices
- Monitor and report changes in patients’ condition to the nursing team promptly
- Assist with bathing, grooming, feeding, toileting, and comfort measures with dignity
- Document care accurately and timely in patient records per facility policy
- Follow infection control practices and maintain a clean, safe environment
- Collaborate with nurses and interdisciplinary team members to deliver person-centered care
Qualifications
- Current CNA certification (state-registered) or eligible to be certified in Maine
- Active CPR/BLS certification preferred or ability to obtain upon hire
- Minimum basic experience in long-term care or similar setting preferred (1+ year is a plus)
- Must pass background check, drug screen, and have up-to-date immunizations/TB screening
- Reliable, patient-focused, with strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to perform physical aspects of the role (standing, lifting, assisting patients)
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completed CNA training program and active/state-recognized CNA certification
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of activities of daily living (ADLs) and basic patient care techniques
- Familiarity with infection control and safe handling procedures
- Basic charting and documentation skills
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment
- Ability to follow care plans and report observations clearly
- Time management and prioritization during busy shifts
