Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, hands-on care to residents, supporting activities of daily living
- Assist with bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility in a respectful manner
- Take and record vital signs and report any changes in condition to nursing staff
- Document resident care accurately and promptly in facility records
- Support safe transfers and fall prevention efforts while following facility protocols
- Communicate clearly and kindly with residents, families, and the care team
- Follow infection control practices and maintain a clean, safe environment
Qualifications
- Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) credential in Maine
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification preferred or willingness to obtain
- Up-to-date immunizations and TB screening as required by facility
- Ability to pass background and health screenings per facility policy
- Strong communication skills and a caring, patient-focused attitude
Education
- High school diploma or GED; completion of an approved CNA training program and current CNA certification
Knowledge & Skills
- Hands-on resident care and support with ADLs
- Vital sign measurement and basic clinical observations
- Proper documentation and charting practices
- Infection control and safety procedures
- Teamwork, communication, and time management on busy shifts
- Respect for resident rights, dignity, and privacy (HIPAA awareness)
