Roles & Responsibilities
- Perform thorough cardiopulmonary assessments and diagnostic evaluations
- Triage patients safely, rapidly, and accurately as they enter emergency care
- Provide therapeutic respiratory interventions per physician orders
- Communicate patient status, changes, and diagnostic results to ED physicians
- Educate patients, caregivers, and the community on respiratory care and equipment
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and ensure equipment readiness
- Participate in quality improvement, safety initiatives, and infection control practices
Qualifications
- Current Utah State Respiratory Therapist Licensure (required)
- Active NBRC credential in good standing (required)
- BCLS and ACLS certification (required)
- Graduate of an AMA-approved School of Respiratory Therapy (required)
- AARC or USRC membership preferred
- Ability to triage quickly and accurately in emergency settings
Education
- Graduate of an AMA-approved School of Respiratory Therapy
Knowledge & Skills
- Respiratory care and cardiopulmonary treatment principles
- Patient assessment and diagnostic evaluation skills
- Therapeutic intervention techniques and ventilator knowledge
- Emergency triage and rapid decision-making
- Strong communication with physicians, patients, and care teams
- Patient and caregiver education best practices
- Equipment operation, maintenance, and safety procedures
