Shift Type: Monday-Thursday, 7:00 AM - 4:30 PM OR 6:00 AM - 3:30 PM (4x9s; team/self scheduling) with 1-2 weeknight on-call shifts per week (end of shift until 7:00 AM next day) and 1 weekend on-call per month (7:00 AM Friday - 7:00 AM Monday); day shifts with rotating on-call and holiday coverage

Roles & Responsibilities

• Prepare operating rooms and sterile instruments for cases, ensuring everything is ready when the team needs it
• Anticipate surgeon needs and pass instruments efficiently during procedures including total joints and C-sections
• Operate and assist with specialty equipment such as C-arm imaging and robotic MAKO systems when required
• Maintain strict sterile technique and patient safety standards for adults, pediatrics, geriatrics and obstetric cases
• Assist with room turnover and instrument processing to keep the OR running smoothly
• Participate in unit orientation and team-based scheduling to support continuity of care
• Document perioperative care accurately in the charting system and communicate effectively with the surgical team

Qualifications

• Current BLS certification required
• ND UAP required as specified by state rules
• CST or NCCT certification preferred and highly valued
• Minimum 1 year of surgical technologist experience, with familiarity in total joints and C-sections
• Comfortable with or willing to train on MAKO robot and C-arm imaging
• Able to pass required fit testing; facial hair may prevent successful fit and could affect assignment
• Willing to comply with facility radius and RTO rules for the assignment

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Completion of an accredited surgical technologist program preferred
• CST or NCCT certification preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong sterile technique and operating room workflow knowledge
• Experience with orthopedic cases: total joints, ORIF, arthroscopy
• OB/GYN procedures experience including Cesarean Section, LAVH and D&C
• General surgery familiarity including lap appendectomy, lap cholecystectomy and exploratory laparotomy
• Familiarity with energy devices such as Ligasure and Harmonic scalpel
• Comfort with pediatric and geriatric patient needs in the OR
• Team communication, intraoperative anticipation and efficient instrument handling
