Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert perioperative care as scrub or circulator, maintaining sterile technique throughout cases
• Administer and monitor blood and blood products safely and per policy
• Continuously monitor cardiac status and conscious sedation during procedures
• Start and manage peripheral IVs and assist with vascular access as needed
• Lead and participate in Universal Protocol (time out) to ensure patient safety
• Chart accurately and promptly in Epic to support continuity of care
• Float within scope to support like units when needed and respond to trauma activations
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and the perioperative team to optimize patient outcomes

Qualifications

• Active Alaska RN license (must have license in hand for auto-offer; pending license accepted for submission)
• Minimum 2 years of OR experience (trauma Level II experience required/preferred)
• Travel nursing experience required; first-time travelers welcome
• BLS required; ACLS and CNOR preferred
• Comfortable with scrub and circulate roles across a broad case mix (vascular, ortho, neuro, gyn, pediatrics, robotics)
• Ability to respond to call-offs and float to similar units when required

Knowledge & Skills

• Perioperative nursing fundamentals, scrub and circulate skills, and strict sterile technique
• Administration and monitoring of blood & blood products
• Cardiac monitoring and conscious sedation monitoring
• Starting peripheral IVs and urinary catheterization
• Familiarity with robotics (Da Vinci Xi, Mazor) and specialty instrumentation (cell saver, electrosurgical units)
• Trauma response experience and care for diverse patient ages from neonates to geriatrics
• Strong infection control, specimen handling, and Universal Protocol adherence
• Comfort with Epic electronic charting
