Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, patient-centered nursing care in an acute inpatient rehab setting
• Perform and manage IV therapy, start and maintain IVs, and care for PICC lines and ports
• Administer blood and blood products per facility protocols
• Deliver tracheostomy care and respiratory support including suctioning and incentive spirometry
• Manage feeding tubes and PEG care, including swallow precautions and thickened liquids
• Assess and prevent wounds and pressure ulcers with timely interventions
• Teach patients and families about disease management, mobility, and safe discharge planning
• Collaborate with PT, RT, pharmacy, and interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient recovery
• Document thoroughly and accurately in Epic to maintain continuity of care
• Respond to rapid response events and escalate care when needed

Qualifications

• Active RN license or ability to obtain NC RN license prior to start
• Minimum 4 years of nursing experience, acute inpatient rehab experience strongly preferred
• BLS certification required or preferred by facility
• Proven skills in IV therapy, central line/PICC care, and administration of blood products
• Experience with tracheostomy care, suctioning, incentive spirometry, and oxygen therapy
• Experience with feeding tube/PEG management and swallow precautions
• Comfortable using Epic for charting and clinical documentation
• Ability to float within scope to meet facility needs and work rotating weekends

Education

• ADN or BSN in Nursing; BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong patient assessment and teaching skills
• Wound and pressure ulcer assessment and prevention
• Mobility assistance and safe patient transfers
• Familiarity with assistive devices and mobilization techniques
• Cardiac and endocrine medication knowledge including anticoagulants and insulin protocols
• Neurological condition management (CVA, TBI, spinal cord injury, Parkinson's)
• Suture and staple removal
• Infection prevention and isolation precautions
