Roles & Responsibilities
- Perform thorough assessments and develop individualized plans of care that improve patient function and independence
- Document evaluations, progress notes, and discharge plans accurately and timely in Epic
- Deliver hands-on skilled interventions including gait training, transfers, therapeutic exercise, and modalities
- Provide specialized care across settings: outpatient, acute care, and SNF as needed
- Manage wound care, lymphedema, and pelvic floor interventions when indicated
- Monitor vital signs and perform strength and pain assessments to guide safe treatment progression
- Educate patients and families on home exercise programs, safety, and injury prevention
- Collaborate with nursing and interdisciplinary teams to support smooth transitions of care
Qualifications
- Active Alaska Physical Therapy license (AK License) required
- BLS certification required
- Minimum 1 year of clinical physical therapy experience
- Comfortable charting in Epic and working across outpatient, inpatient, and SNF environments
- Able and willing to float within scope to meet facility needs
- First-time travel clinicians are welcome; local candidates are not accepted (permanent address must be at least 50 miles from facility)
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled in assessment, documentation, plan of care development, and reassessments
- Proficient with gait training, transfers, adaptive equipment, and Hoyer/bed alarms use
- Experience with wound care, lymphedema management, pelvic floor training, pediatrics, geriatrics, orthopedics, and neurology
- Familiar with modalities such as TENS, ultrasound, e-stim, cryotherapy and traction techniques
- Strong hands-on skills: strength testing, pain assessment, skin integrity evaluation, and functional mobility training
- Ability to teach and develop effective home exercise programs and provide family education
