Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform thorough nutrition assessments and reassessments to create patient-centered care plans
• Develop and implement therapeutic diet orders and individualized nutrition therapy
• Manage enteral nutrition (tube feedings) and total parenteral nutrition (TPN) safely and effectively
• Monitor fluid balance, labs, and clinical signs to adjust interventions and prevent complications
• Conduct Nutrition Focused Physical Exams (NFPE) and document findings in Epic
• Collaborate with PT/Respiratory/Pharmacy and the interdisciplinary team to support rehabilitation goals
• Educate patients and families on nutrition strategies for recovery, wound healing, and chronic disease management
• Participate in rounds, contribute to discharge planning, and support continuity of care across settings

Qualifications

• Active RD/RDN credential (required)
• BLS certification (required)
• Alaska state dietitian license preferred (pending AK license accepted; strong preference for license in hand)
• At least 1 year of clinical experience (travel experience required; first-time travelers not accepted)
• Experience with Epic charting system
• Preferred experience in short-term acute care, LTAC, or inpatient rehabilitation
• Comfort managing enteral nutrition, TPN, fluid/electrolyte issues, and nutrition-related lab monitoring

Knowledge & Skills

• Expertise in Nutrition Assessments/Reassessments and Nutrition Therapy
• Proficient with Enteral Nutrition (tube feedings) and Total Parenteral Nutrition (TPN)
• Skilled at Nutrition Focused Physical Exam (NFPE) and identifying malnutrition
• Strong lab monitoring and interpretation (blood glucose/A1C, lipid panels, acid/base balance)
• Experience with appetite stimulants, aspiration safety, calorie counts, and food-drug interactions
• Ability to assess fluid status, intake/output, and manage complex renal and respiratory nutrition needs
• Comfortable working in Epic and documenting accurately in an interdisciplinary rehab setting
