Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality emergency nursing care to patients across the lifespan — from neonates to geriatrics
• Serve as charge nurse when assigned, coordinating care and leading the team
• Perform cardiac monitoring, interpret dysrhythmias, and manage arrhythmias promptly
• Manage ventilated patients and provide advanced respiratory support as needed
• Administer and monitor procedural sedation and continuous IV sedation safely
• Start and maintain IVs, perform phlebotomy, and manage IV therapies
• Respond to emergencies and participate in rapid response/team-based care
• Document all patient care accurately and efficiently in Epic
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary services to ensure seamless patient care

Qualifications

• Active RN license valid for practice in Alaska (pending licenses are not accepted)
• Minimum 1 year of relevant experience (ER experience and previous charge experience required)
• Certifications required: ACLS, BLS, PALS
• TNCC preferred
• Must be able to float within scope to meet facility needs
• Non-local requirement: permanent address must be at least 50 miles from the facility
• Traveler must provide valid driver’s license and proof of insurance to operate provided vehicle

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program and active RN licensure (ASN/BSN or equivalent)

Knowledge & Skills

• Emergency nursing and charge nurse leadership
• Cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• IV therapy, starting/maintaining IVs and phlebotomy
• Ventilator management and respiratory care for ventilated patients
• Procedural sedation administration and monitoring
• Strong emergency response skills and ability to work in a high-acuity setting
• Proficient charting in Epic
