Shift Type: Monday-Friday, 6:45 AM - 3:15 PM (Day shift), 5x8-hour shifts
Hours per Week: 40
Candidate Pay Rate: $72 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Deliver expert perioperative care as a scrub and circulating RN for neuro, spine, ortho and general surgery cases
- Prepare the OR and instruments, anticipate surgeon needs, and maintain sterile technique throughout procedures
- Serve as a charge/resource nurse when required, coordinating patient flow and team assignments
- Perform Universal Protocol time-outs and ensure infection control and specimen handling best practices
- Administer blood and blood products safely and document per facility policy
- Chart accurately in Epic and communicate changes in patient condition to the interdisciplinary team
- Respond to codes and emergency situations with calm, competent action
- Float to other UCSF facilities as needed while maintaining high-quality patient care
Qualifications
- Active RN license (California) required
- Minimum 3 years RN experience with perioperative/OR experience
- Previous travel assignment experience required
- BLS required; ACLS and CNOR strongly preferred
- Charge nurse experience required
- Experience with Epic electronic charting required
- Teaching hospital experience preferred
- COVID-19 vaccine plus booster required (medical/religious exemptions only)
- Ability to float to other UCSF facilities and work occasional scheduled weekends
Knowledge & Skills
- Perioperative nursing: scrub and circulating proficiency
- Neurosurgery (craniotomy, VP shunt, spinal fusions) and spine procedures
- Orthopedics and general surgery experience, including laparoscopic and open cases
- Vascular, cardiovascular and transplant procedural familiarity a plus
- Robotics experience with Da Vinci Xi highly desirable
- Administration of blood & blood products, infection control, specimen handling
- Universal Protocol (time out), laser and radiation safety knowledge
- Code response, emergency management and safe patient handling
- Proficient use of Epic for perioperative documentation
