Roles & Responsibilities
- Deliver and stabilize newborns during and after delivery with calm, expert care
- Provide neonatal respiratory support including ventilator management and noninvasive modalities
- Operate, troubleshoot, and maintain respiratory equipment to keep therapies safe and effective
- Perform pulmonary function tasks and contribute to pulmonary rehabilitation plans as appropriate
- Collaborate closely with obstetrics, neonatology, and nursing teams to coordinate patient care
- Document interventions, patient responses, and equipment usage clearly and promptly
- Educate families on respiratory care plans and provide compassionate support during stressful moments
- Follow facility policies, infection control protocols, and neonatal resuscitation guidelines
Qualifications
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential required
- Licensed by the State of Colorado as a Respiratory Therapist
- Completion of an accredited respiratory therapy program
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification required upon hire
- BLS and ACLS required upon hire
- PALS required within 60 days of hire
- NBRC certification preferred
- Minimum one year recent acute, emergency, or intensive care experience preferred
Education
- Completion of an accredited respiratory therapy program
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled in delivery and stabilization of newborns and neonatal respiratory care
- Strong knowledge of pulmonary function testing and pulmonary rehabilitation concepts
- Experience with neonatal and adult respiratory equipment and ventilators
- Ability to think critically and act quickly in high-acuity situations
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills in multidisciplinary settings
- Accurate clinical documentation and adherence to protocols
