Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-acuity critical care nursing for adult and geriatric ICU patients, maintaining safe 1:2 patient ratios
• Manage ventilated patients and perform ventilator management tasks to optimize respiratory outcomes
• Monitor and titrate vasoactive and cardiac drips, and respond to hemodynamic changes
• Access, maintain, and manage arterial lines, central lines, PICCs, and blood product administration
• Interpret arterial blood gases (ABGs) and dysrhythmias; initiate appropriate clinical interventions
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (respiratory therapy, PT, pharmacy, social work) for coordinated care
• Document thorough, timely charting in Epic and support unit quality and safety initiatives
• Float to other like units, including possible assignments at Providence Mission Laguna, as needed

Qualifications

• Active, unrestricted RN license (California) required; pending licenses are not accepted
• Minimum 1 year of ICU experience required (first-timers accepted per listing) with demonstrated critical care skills
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications required; NIHSS required
• CPI and MAB certifications preferred; chemotherapy administration experience is a plus
• Experience with Epic charting preferred
• Comfort with high-acuity skills: ventilator care, arterial/central line management, titration of drips, dysrhythmia recognition

Education

• Active RN license in California required
• BSN preferred (not required)

Knowledge & Skills

• ICU nursing fundamentals and critical care assessment
• Ventilator management and respiratory support (HFNC, BiPAP/CPAP assistance)
• Hemodynamic monitoring, arterial line and Swan-Ganz familiarity
• Central line, PICC care and blood product administration
• ABG interpretation and titration of vasoactive/cardiac drips
• Cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• IV therapy, starting/maintaining IVs, and IV insulin protocol familiarity
• Familiarity with Epic electronic charting and documentation best practices
