Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide expert post-operative care for CABG, vascular, and general cardiac patients with compassion and precision
- Manage cardiac drips and titrations safely while titrating to patient response and protocols
- Perform timely electrolyte replacement and interpret lab trends to guide care
- Care for and manage chest tubes, epicardial pacing wires, and TR bands with attention to detail
- Document patient care accurately in Meditech and communicate changes to the care team
- Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and unit staff to optimize patient experience (pain control, communication, responsiveness)
- Support unit workflow and staffing needs while maintaining patient safety and standards
Qualifications
- Current RN (Registered Nurse) — title explicitly listed as RN for this role
- Required certifications: BLS and ALS (must be current)
- Experience caring for post-op CABG and cardiac patient populations (PCU/Telemetry experience preferred)
- Comfortable with cardiac drips/titrations, electrolyte replacement, chest tube and epicardial pacing wire management
- Familiarity with Meditech or similar documentation systems preferred
- Ability to work a 36-hour schedule and cover every-other-weekend requirements
Knowledge & Skills
- Cardiac nursing fundamentals and post-operative care
- Telemetry/PCU monitoring and patient assessment
- Management of chest tubes, epicardial pacing wires, and TR bands
- Safe administration and titration of cardiac drips
- Electrolyte replacement protocols and interpretation
- Electronic charting in Meditech and clear interdisciplinary communication
- Strong patient-centered communication focused on pain, responsiveness, and experience
