Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, patient-centered nursing care on a medical-surgical unit
- Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately
- Monitor patient status and vital signs, recognizing and escalating changes
- Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses in the chart
- Collaborate with RNs, providers, and the care team to coordinate patient care
- Educate patients and families about plan of care and discharge instructions
- Support unit flow by assisting with admissions, discharges, and transfers
Qualifications
- Current LPN or LVN license (state of practice) required
- Med Surg clinical experience (experience preferred; exact years not specified)
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required or obtain upon hire
- Ability to work overnight shifts and function effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Pass background check and meet facility immunization requirements
Education
- Graduate of an accredited practical nursing or vocational nursing program
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong med-surg clinical assessment and medication administration skills
- Comfortable with wound care, dressing changes, and basic procedures
- Effective communication and teamwork skills with interdisciplinary staff
- Accurate electronic medical record documentation
- Time management, prioritization, and the ability to respond to changing patient needs
