Shift Type: Rotating nights, 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM (12-hour night shifts); includes every other weekend; 12-week contract

Roles & Responsibilities
- Assess and triage patients rapidly and accurately in a busy ED environment
- Provide high-quality emergency care for trauma, stroke, sepsis, DKA and complex cardiac patients
- Initiate and manage IV access including ultrasound-guided (U/S) IVs and IO insertion when indicated
- Monitor and interpret EKGs and manage cardiac-related interventions
- Administer medications safely using Alaris pumps and Pyxis systems
- Document patient care clearly and efficiently in Sunrise/Allscripts EMR
- Collaborate with physicians, techs and multidisciplinary teams to deliver timely care
- Deliver compassionate patient- and family-centered care, including psychiatric holding area responsibilities
Qualifications
- Active RN license (must meet state requirements for practice)
- At least 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) nursing experience (required for contract labor)
- BLS, ACLS, PALS and TNCC certifications required for contract labor
- Strong assessment, critical thinking and communication skills
- Dependability, punctuality and ability to work rotating nights and every other weekend
Knowledge & Skills
- Emergency nursing fundamentals: triage, trauma, stroke protocols and critical care basics
- IV insertion skills including ultrasound-guided (U/S IV) and intraosseous (IO) insertion
- EKG interpretation and cardiac monitoring
- Experience with Alaris infusion pumps and Pyxis medication systems
- Familiarity with Sunrise and Allscripts electronic medical records
- Comfort working in a fast-paced ED with psychiatric holding, multiple procedure rooms and hallway beds
- Strong clinical judgment, adaptability and teamwork
