Roles & Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive nutrition assessments and create individualized care plans
- Provide medical nutrition therapy for inpatient populations with compassion and clinical accuracy
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other care team members to optimize patient outcomes
- Monitor and document patient progress, adjusting interventions as needed
- Educate patients and families about nutrition-related disease management and discharge planning
- Ensure accurate charting and compliance with facility and regulatory standards
- Manage tube feeding and specialized nutrition support when indicated
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and nutrition-related committees
Qualifications
- Active Registered Dietitian credential (RD or RDN) required
- Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, or related field; ACEND-accredited program preferred
- California state licensure or ability to obtain CA authorization as required
- Previous inpatient or acute care experience preferred (new grads with clinical rotations considered)
- Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills
- Basic life support (BLS) or CPR certification preferred
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, or related field (ACEND-accredited program preferred)
Knowledge & Skills
- Medical nutrition therapy (MNT) for acute care patients
- Nutrition assessment and development of individualized care plans
- Experience with enteral and parenteral nutrition principles
- Comfortable using electronic health records for documentation
- Interdisciplinary teamwork and effective patient/family education
- Familiarity with regulatory and documentation standards in healthcare
