Roles & Responsibilities
- Triage and assess patients rapidly and accurately to prioritize care in a high-volume ED
- Perform continuous cardiac monitoring and interpret findings to guide interventions
- Provide thorough patient assessments and deliver evidence-based emergency nursing care
- Document all care, assessments and procedures clearly and efficiently in Cerner
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to coordinate safe, timely patient flow
- Coach peers and give real-time feedback to support performance and patient safety
- Adhere to patient experience standards (AIDET, respectful communication, board updates)
- Float across all sections of the ED as needed to support unit staffing and patient needs
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) licensure (must be eligible to work in NC for this assignment)
- Minimum 2 years nursing experience, with at least 1 year of ER experience required
- Certifications required before start: ACLS, BLS, PALS, TNCC, CPI, NIHSS
- ENPC required within 90 days of hire
- Experience with Cerner documentation expected
- Comfort working in Level II trauma and comprehensive stroke center environments
- Ability to work in a high-volume ED (100,000+ visits) and manage variable patient ratios
- Teamwork mindset and demonstrated ability to coach and provide constructive feedback
Knowledge & Skills
- Emergency nursing and triage principles
- Cardiac monitoring and rhythm recognition
- Rapid patient assessment and stabilization
- Cerner electronic health record documentation
- Familiarity with Baxter infusion pumps and GE monitors
- Experience in high-volume ED workflows and patient flow management
- Strong communication, teamwork and coaching skills
- Stroke and trauma care basics (NIHSS, TNCC familiarity)
