Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver safe, high-quality patient care using the nursing process: assess, plan, implement and evaluate
• Provide direct patient care within scope of practice in the Emergency Department and Telemetry areas
• Coordinate and communicate patient status changes and diagnostic results with physicians and care team
• Lead and guide patient/family teaching to promote understanding and recovery
• Assist and direct other nursing personnel while maintaining professional standards of care
• Respond quickly and accurately to changes in patient condition and responses to treatment
• Document care thoroughly and accurately in EPIC EMR
• Follow EMTALA regulations and report suspected child/adult abuse to appropriate agencies
• Maintain strict patient privacy and confidentiality at all times

Qualifications

• Current and valid California RN license (required)
• BLS required; ACLS and PALS required
• NRP, DCI/BVP or equivalent certifications listed by facility
• EPIC EMR experience (required) — comfort charting in electronic systems
• NIHSS or Stroke Certification preferred
• EDAP 1 and 2 preferred; BVP (MAB) training preferred
• COVID-19 vaccination and boosters preferred (facility policy)
• Successful completion of drug screen, TB testing, immunizations (MMR, Varicella, Hep B, Tdap) and fit testing per facility policy

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; BSN preferred or equivalent nursing education

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong patient assessment and clinical judgment
• Proficiency with nursing process: assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation
• Comfortable with telemetry monitoring and emergency care protocols
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• Knowledge of EMTALA and reporting requirements for abuse
• Ability to respond rapidly to changing patient conditions
• Skilled in patient/family education and care coordination
• Familiarity with Prime clinical competency testing and specialty exams
