Roles & Responsibilities
- Perform high-quality ultrasound exams across general, OB (all trimesters), and vascular studies to support patient diagnosis
- Operate and maintain ultrasound equipment (Toshiba units; new Phillips units incoming) and ensure proper image acquisition
- Accurately document studies and chart in EPIC RIS and Fuji PACS to maintain clear patient records
- Collaborate with radiologists and the clinical team to escalate urgent findings and support patient care
- Provide excellent patient-centered care — explain procedures, ensure comfort and safety during exams
- Participate in on-call coverage after 9:00 PM and weekend rotations as scheduled
- Follow BLS and departmental policies, and contribute to quality assurance and workflow efficiency
Qualifications
- ARDMS credential required (RDMS, RDCS, or RVT accepted as applicable)
- Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS-AE via ARDMS) or Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT via ARDMS) as listed
- BLS (AHA) certification required
- Minimum 1 year of sonography experience (general, OB, and vascular experience preferred)
- Comfortable using EPIC RIS and Fuji PACS, and working with Toshiba/Phillips equipment
- Valid driver’s license (DL must be submitted) and ability to be in-state for the week of orientation
Knowledge & Skills
- Proven sonography skills in general ultrasound, OB, and vascular exams
- Familiarity with EPIC RIS and Fuji PACS for charting and image management
- Experience with Toshiba ultrasound systems and exposure to Philips equipment
- Strong patient communication, positioning, and procedural skills
- Ability to work independently on an acute care imaging unit and collaborate with radiology staff
- Comfort managing a moderate daily volume (approximately 10-15 studies per day)
