Roles & Responsibilities
- Perform high-quality obstetric ultrasound exams across all trimesters with accuracy and compassion
- Conduct general and vascular (arterial and venous) ultrasound studies following department protocols
- Provide imaging services at both the hospital and the imaging center, adapting to each setting
- Communicate findings and collaborate with radiologists, OB providers, and care teams to support patient care
- Ensure accurate documentation, image archiving (PACS), and timely reporting
- Maintain equipment, adhere to infection control and safety standards, and participate in quality assurance activities
- Deliver excellent patient care and education, making patients feel comfortable and informed during exams
Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography program (or equivalent experience)
- Current ARDMS/ RDMS certification preferred (Obstetrics/Abdomen or relevant specialty)
- Demonstrated experience in obstetrics, general, and vascular ultrasound (arterial and venous)
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
- Valid state licensure if required by Washington state regulations
- Strong communication skills and ability to work across hospital and imaging center environments
Education
- Associate degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography or completion of an accredited sonography program
- ARDMS preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Proficiency in obstetric measurements, fetal biometry, and trimester-specific imaging
- Experienced with vascular Doppler techniques for arterial and venous assessment
- Skilled in general abdominal and small parts sonography
- Comfortable using PACS and common EMR systems for documentation and image transfer
- Patient-centered care, positioning, and safety best practices
- Ability to triage urgent findings and work collaboratively with clinical teams
