Roles & Responsibilities
- Room patients, record accurate histories, medications and allergies to ensure safe, personalized care
- Obtain and record vital signs, height and weight to support clinical decision making
- Prepare exam rooms and set up/assist with minor procedures to keep the clinic running smoothly
- Collect, label, and handle specimens properly so results are reliable and timely
- Perform wound care, dressing changes and suture removal with attention to patient comfort and healing
- Triage patient calls and perform follow-up phone outreach to maintain continuity of care
- Manage appointment scheduling, insurance verification and authorization forms to reduce barriers to care
- Stock supplies and maintain efficient clinic flow so clinicians can focus on patients
Qualifications
- Medical Assistant Certificate or Diploma from a DAPIP-accredited program OR national certification through AAMA, AMCA, AMT, CCBMA, or MMCI (required)
- BLS certification (required)
- Minimum 1 year of MA experience (first-timers not accepted)
- Experience with Epic charting system (required)
- Local candidates accepted; pending licenses are not accepted
- Ability to work the listed day shift schedule and complete an 80-hour orientation
Education
- Medical Assistant Certificate/Diploma from a DAPIP-accredited program OR national MA certification (AAMA, AMCA, AMT, CCBMA, MMCI)
Knowledge & Skills
- Proficient with Epic electronic health record
- Strong skills in vital signs, specimen collection and labeling
- Comfortable with wound care, suture removal and nasal swab collection
- Experienced with telephone triage and follow-up communications
- Skilled in insurance verification, authorization forms and chart preparation
- Efficient at rooming patients, stocking supplies and preparing exam rooms
- Familiarity with outpatient orthopedics workflow preferred
