Roles & Responsibilities
- Room patients and obtain accurate vital signs to support safe, effective care
- Prepare exam rooms and assist with procedures to keep clinics running smoothly
- Perform venipuncture, urine collection (UA/clean catch) and specimen labeling
- Conduct blood glucose checks with glucometer and document results
- Administer TB tests and assist with immunizations and injections as needed
- Remove sutures and provide basic wound care per clinic protocols
- Manage telephone triage, follow-up calls and pharmacy refill requests professionally
- Chart patient encounters and documentation (EPIC experience preferred)
- Float to sister clinics as required, maintaining quality and continuity of care
Qualifications
- Active MA-R or MA-C certification accepted (MA-R or MA-C will be considered)
- Minimum 6 months clinical experience required — Adult Outpatient Clinic experience required (strong acute inpatient candidates may be screened)
- BLS preferred
- Demonstrated skills in venipuncture, specimen collection, TB testing and vitals
- Reliable transportation and ability to float to nearby clinics as needed
- Willingness to consider perm conversion at the end of the contract if mutually a good fit
- Ability to work the posted 4x10 schedule (07:00-17:30 Mon/Tue/Wed/Fri)
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Medical Assistant certification (MA-R or MA-C) preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Medical terminology and patient care fundamentals
- Vital signs measurement and documentation
- Phlebotomy / venipuncture and specimen labeling
- Point-of-care testing (glucometer) and basic laboratory tasks
- Suture removal and basic wound care
- Telephone triage, follow-up calls and handling pharmacy refill requests
- EPIC charting experience (preferred)
- Rooming patients, recording history/medications/allergies and preparing exams
