Roles & Responsibilities
- Room patients and take accurate vital signs, height and weight — you set the tone for excellent care
- Chart thoroughly in Epic so the care team has the clearest picture possible
- Collect and label specimens with precision to keep labs flowing smoothly
- Assist with procedures, dressing changes, wound care and suture removal when needed
- Perform telephone triage and follow-up calls, helping patients feel heard and supported
- Manage scheduling, insurance verification and authorization forms to keep clinics running
- Stock supplies and prepare rooms so clinicians can focus on patients
- Perform nasal swabs and other routine testing as required by the clinic
Qualifications
- BLS required (bring that certification!)
- Medical Assistant Certificate/Diploma from a DAPIP-accredited program OR national certification through AAMA, AMCA, AMT, CCBMA, or MMCI
- Minimum 1 year of Medical Assistant experience (first-timers not accepted)
- Epic experience required (charting system required)
- CMAS certification preferred
- Flu vaccine required (no exemptions); COVID-19 vaccine not required per facility guideline
- Local candidates accepted; pending license not accepted
Education
- Medical Assistant Certificate/Diploma from a DAPIP-accredited program OR national certification (AAMA, AMCA, AMT, CCBMA, or MMCI)
Knowledge & Skills
- Proven experience with Epic electronic health record
- Strong vital signs and specimen collection skills
- Wound care and suture removal competency
- Telephone triage and patient follow-up experience
- Familiarity with insurance verification and authorization forms
- Ability to assist with procedures and exam preparation
- Excellent communication, organization and multitasking abilities
- Comfort working in a busy outpatient clinic with high patient volume
