Roles & Responsibilities
- Assist physicians by scrubbing and circulating during cardiac cath and interventional radiology procedures
- Prepare and maintain cath lab and IR suite equipment, ensuring Meditech documentation is accurate
- Operate and troubleshoot imaging equipment including GE MacLab telemtry systems
- Maintain radiation safety and proper fluoroscopy protocols when providing support during procedures
- Provide rapid response on call shifts with a 30-minute response time when needed
- Support patient monitoring and post-procedure care for diagnostic and interventional cases
- Coordinate with charge nurse, RT, and pharmacy to ensure timely, safe patient throughput
- Contribute to a culture of safety and continuous improvement by communicating concerns and suggestions
Qualifications
- Certified Radiologic Technologist - ARRT (R) required for techs
- Active ACLS (AHA) and BLS (AHA) certifications required
- Fluoroscopy license required for techs
- Minimum 2 years of Cath Lab experience required; IR experience preferred
- Scrub experience required
- Prior travel experience preferred but not mandatory
- Ability to meet 30-minute on-call response times and work scheduled call rotations
Education
- Associate degree in Radiologic Technology or related field preferred
- ARRT certification (Radiography) required
Knowledge & Skills
- Hands-on Cath Lab and Interventional Radiology procedure knowledge (L & R heart cath, EP studies, pacers, defibrillators)
- Experience with Meditech electronic medical record
- Familiarity with GE MacLab telemetry/tele systems
- Competence with vascular access procedures (PICC, central lines, swans, pleurovacs)
- Strong aseptic technique and instrumentation handling
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and ability to work in a fast-paced acute setting
