Roles & Responsibilities
- Room patients and obtain accurate vitals, heights, and weights to ensure high-quality care
- Document patient history, medications, and allergies in Epic with attention to detail
- Collect and label specimens and perform nasal swabs per protocol
- Set up and assist with clinic procedures, dressing changes, wound care, and suture removal
- Perform telephone triage and follow-up phone calls to keep patients informed and supported
- Handle authorization forms, chart preparation, insurance verification, and appointment scheduling
- Stock and prepare exam rooms, instruments, and supplies so clinics run smoothly
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary staff and unit secretary to optimize patient flow and experience
Qualifications
- BLS certification required
- Medical Assistant Certificate/Diploma from a DAPIP-accredited program OR national certification through AAMA, AMCA, AMT, CCBMA, or MMCI
- Minimum 1 year of Medical Assistant experience (first-timers not accepted)
- Experience with Epic is required
- CMAS is a plus
- Flu vaccine required (no exemptions) per facility guideline
- Locals accepted; pending licenses are not accepted
Education
- Medical Assistant Certificate/Diploma from a DAPIP-accredited program OR national MA certification (AAMA, AMCA, AMT, CCBMA, MMCI)
Knowledge & Skills
- Proficient with Epic and electronic charting systems
- Strong skills in vital signs, specimen collection, labeling, and rooming patients
- Experienced in authorization forms, insurance verification, and appointment scheduling
- Comfortable assisting with procedures, wound care, and minor clinical tasks
- Effective telephone triage and patient communication skills
- Ability to manage a fast-paced outpatient clinic with attention to detail
