Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide skilled physical therapy interventions and assist the treating Physical Therapist to improve patient mobility
• Deliver therapeutic exercise programs, gait training, transfers, and balance interventions with safety and compassion
• Document patient progress, treatments, and outcomes accurately in the electronic health record
• Communicate effectively with the interdisciplinary team to coordinate patient-centered care
• Educate patients and families on home programs, safety strategies, and recovery expectations
• Maintain equipment, uphold infection control standards, and ensure a safe therapeutic environment

Qualifications

• Licensed Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) in New Mexico or eligible to obtain state licensure
• Associate degree from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program
• Current BLS/CPR certification (or willing to obtain prior to start)
• Prior experience in inpatient or acute care settings is preferred but motivated new grads are welcome
• Strong patient-handling skills and a team-first attitude

Education

• Associate degree in Physical Therapist Assistant (or related allied health degree) and state PTA licensure

Knowledge & Skills

• Clinical knowledge of therapeutic exercise progression and functional mobility training
• Experience with transfers, gait training, balance and wheelchair management
• Proficient charting and documentation skills in an EHR environment
• Excellent communication and patient education skills
• Ability to prioritize caseloads and collaborate with nursing and rehab teams
