Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour shifts: Day 6:30 AM - 7:00 PM and Night 6:30 PM - 7:00 AM; schedule set by manager; every-other-weekend required; 12-hour day/night rotation
Hours per Week: 36 hours per week
Candidate Pay Rate: $64.67/hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality intermediate and stepdown cardiac nursing care for CVU patients
- Titrate and manage vasoactive drips and cardiac medications safely (amiodarone, nitro, nicardipine, epinephrine, diltiazem, etc.)
- Continuously monitor and interpret telemetry strips and respond to rhythm changes
- Collaborate with cardiology, hospitalists, intensivists and RTs to coordinate patient care
- Support cath lab, EP, thoracic and structural heart programs during patient transitions
- Document care accurately in EPIC and participate in unit-specific orientation and competency validation
- Float to same-level or lower-acuity units as needed while maintaining patient safety
Qualifications
- Active RN license (must be eligible to submit)
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS (valid at time of submission)
- Minimum clinical experience: 1 year with this patient population (cardiac/stepdown); posting lists 2 years of overall experience
- Comfort and experience titrating drips and managing hemodynamically unstable patients
- Ability to read and interpret telemetry and act promptly
- Pass/fail orientation exam (open book) with a 90% pass requirement during orientation
Education
- Active RN license (required)
- BSN preferred but not required
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong telemetry interpretation skills and cardiac rhythm recognition
- Experience with vasoactive and antiarrhythmic infusions and titration protocols
- Familiarity with EPIC charting system
- Competence with respiratory support devices (BiPAP, CPAP, nasal cannula) and basic troubleshooting
- Ability to work in a fast-paced stepdown/CVU environment supporting cath lab, EP and thoracic programs
- Teamwork, communication, and the ability to follow unit staffing/charge nurse direction
