Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver compassionate, evidence-based stepdown care to patients from young adult to geriatric populations
• Monitor and interpret telemetry and cardiac strips, taking timely action for changes in patient status
• Titrate and manage drips and IV medications safely, including heparin, amiodarone, cardizem, nitroglycerin, and insulin
• Perform admissions, discharges, and transfers while maintaining continuity of care during high-volume flow
• Document accurately and thoroughly in EPIC to support patient safety and continuity
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members including RTs, CNAs, physicians, and charge nurses
• Participate in bedside report, hourly rounding, and engage patients and families to improve patient experience
• Complete required orientation and pass the skills exam to demonstrate competency

Qualifications

• Active RN license eligible for submission in Nebraska (compact license accepted if applicable)
• Minimum 2 years clinical nursing experience (stepdown, med-surg, or critical care preferred)
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required; NIHSS certification required
• Valid driver’s license required at time of submittal for radius verification
• Ability to pass an open-book orientation skills exam with a minimum score of 90%

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN); BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficient with telemetry monitoring and cardiac rhythm interpretation
• Experience titrating common drips and administering IV medications
• Familiarity with EPIC electronic medical record system
• Comfort managing patients with sepsis, STEMI, CHF, stroke, respiratory failure, DKA, and multisystem issues
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with strong teamwork and communication skills
• Experience working with BiPAP, high-flow devices, and collaborating with respiratory therapy
