Roles & Responsibilities

• Prepare the OR and instruments, ensuring sterile technique and patient safety
• Assist with patient transport, positioning, skin prep and surgical draping
• Support anesthesia induction and intubation when needed
• Assist clinicians with arterial, central line and epidural procedures as appropriate
• Perform large-bore IV starts and medication administration under unit protocol
• Document patient care accurately in Cerner and support BCMA medication workflows
• Communicate clearly with the perioperative team to keep cases running smoothly
• Work independently in a high-acuity environment while collaborating with CVOR staff

Qualifications

• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or equivalent experience in OR (preferred)
• Minimum 2 years clinical experience (critical care or perioperative experience strongly preferred)
• Current BLS certification (required)
• Proven ability to work independently in a fast-paced, high-acuity setting
• Excellent communication and documentation skills
• Comfortable assisting with lines, epidurals, and airway support during procedures

Education

• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program or equivalent clinical training
• High school diploma or GED required; additional perioperative coursework a plus

Knowledge & Skills

• Hands-on experience in OR/PreOp workflows and sterile technique
• Familiarity with Cerner documentation and BCMA medication administration
• Experience with GE Carescape monitoring systems and Fuji ultrasound exposure
• Strong critical thinking and situational awareness in perioperative care
• Skilled in patient positioning, skin prep, and OR instrumentation
